A Brief History

Since Mount Royal’s inception in the early 1900s, it has been known as an exclusive neighbourhood for affluent citizens. Originally named “American Hill” due to the amount of Americans living in the community, Mount Royal got its more Canadian name later on. In the past, there were restraints on the types of homes allowed to be built, only single family detached homes could be constructed and there was a minimum housing construction cost implemented. These homes have been maintained over the years which makes Mount Royal one of the oldest and most exclusive communities in Calgary. 

Mount Royal is divided into two sections, Upper Mount Royal and Lower Mount Royal. While both remain prestigious, Lower Mount Royal was subdivided into smaller lots and most older buildings are made of wood and stucco as opposed to Upper Mount Royal’s larger lots and building materials of brick and sandstone. What Makes It Special
Upper Mount Royal is surrounded by greenery and beautiful homes. There are homes still standing from its inception in 1904, making them over 100 years old. This community is a stunning escape from Calgary’s city life that isn’t too far from all your favourite things like fine dining and shopping.
Community Association
Mount Royal has a beautiful community facility that includes 2 tennis courts, a basketball court, a playground, and in the winter an ice surface for hockey and skating. There are also events that are put on by the community association and residents may rent out the facility for private events. A private football club is great for kids of the community to build relationships with their neighbours.
Location, Location, Location
Mount Royal’s location is one of the most sought after in the City of Calgary. This is due to several considerations. It is just south of 17th ave SW and east of 14th st SW for fine dining and easy access to main roads. This location also promotes a healthy lifestyle with gorgeous greenery and quiet roads for walks.
Why We Love Building Here
We have been building in Mount Royal for many years and as such, it has become like a second home to us. We love the access it provides its residents, the amenities from the community association facilities, and the overall atmosphere of the neighbourhood.
