Discover Parkdale

A Brief History

The community of Parkdale was annexed by the City of Calgary in 1910, but it wasn’t fully developed until 1948. Before its full development, there was lots of movement. From 1911 – 1913, six homes were built including heritage houses that are still standing today, over 100 years later. In its beginning years, there were two streetcars that provided access to this community. In 1952, the Calgary Board of Education opened the largest of four schools that were opened that year, Parkdale Elementary School, which continues to serve the community today. As Parkdale home builders, we spend a lot of time in the community and we’re excited to introduce you.

What Makes It Special

Parkdale is located just north of the Bow River which has easy access to pathways, greenery, and gorgeous scenary. This  community is eager to welcome families as it reflects familial ideals, and is curently going through gentrification.

Community Association

The Parkdale Community Association has great events and amenities that bring the community together. This includes an ice rink, the Community Garden & Gathering Space, as well as programs such as “Parents & Tots”, indoor golf, Capoeira, yoga, and Zumba. The newly renovated hall puts on events and residents can rent it out for private functions as well.

Location, Location, Location

Parkdale has an incredible location. On the north bank of the Bow River, pathways along Memorial Dr and towards Edworthy Park are easily accessible. Close to the Foothills Medical Centre, the Alberta Children’s Hospital, and the University of Calgary it’s a perfect location for busy professionals. Getting onto Highway 1 towards the mountains is easy, and getting downtown is even easier.

Why We Love Building Here

As a home builder in Parkdale, we have spent many years purchasing lots and designing custom homes in this great neighbourhood. Our clients always love the welcoming ambiance of Parkdale from its friendly, young residents to the green spaces and walkways. It’s tucked away into a private area where it’s still accessible but has an exclusive atmosphere that residents love.
