Coming Home with Ryan Straschnitzki

“We’re home and maybe now we can start to heal”  is what Michelle Straschnitzki said as her family came home with their son, Humboldt Broncos player Ryan Straschnitzki, for the first time since the tragic Humboldt Broncos accident 1 year ago. The long road of healing has finally come home. For Humboldt Broncos Ryan Straschnitzki and his family, coming home for the first time since the crash symbolizes a monumental stride on the path to recovery path. It represents the next step in the healing process for the Straschnitzki family, the entire hockey community, and all of those touched by the Humboldt Broncos crash.

The Meaning Of A Home

At West Ridge Fine Homes we understand the importance of a home. A home is more than a place to rest your head at night. It is a place of love, safety, growth, healing, and comfort. The strong foundations of a home is representative of the bonds that are shared between a family. From our numerous years of homebuilding experience, we strived to help introduce these qualities back into the lives of the Straschnitzki’s by aiding the family in the renovation of their home prior to their return. Our goal was to create a home where family and friends can rejoice as they turn the page and enter the next chapter of their lives.

A Unique Living Space

Alongside renowned homebuilding partner Mike Holmes, we were able to completely renovate the Straschnitzki household and create a wheelchair-accessible living space that accommodates Ryan’s needs. The main floor is barrier free and completely wheelchair-accessible to allow for Ryan to be more independent and move freely throughout his home. There is an elevator installed that connects the garage to Ryan’s basement apartment where he can hang out with friends and family when he pleases. The basement bachelor pad is equipped with hockey memorabilia so Ryan and his friends can enjoy the rest of the playoffs. There are numerous features unique to this home that we installed specifically for Ryan’s needs, such as a separate temperature control system for his bedroom, that will hopefully make the transition back home an easier one for Ryan.

A Member of The Community

The hockey community is a united front that breeds the best qualities in people and spreads genuinity throughout the lives of those involved. This unity has never been more evident than it has been over the past year following the tragedy of the Humboldt Broncos crash. Like the Humboldt Broncos and the hockey community, West Ridge Fine Homes is also part of a strong community. As a member of the homebuilding community, we feel that it is our responsibility to foster community development and help out as much as we can when the opportunity presents itself. It is this exact passion that we bring into every home building and renovation project that we do. West Ridge Fine Homes is honored to be a part of the homebuilding community and to help other communities in the process. The Straschnitzki’s home renovation project will always hold a special place in the hearts of the West Ridge Fine Homes family. A home is a place for the community to come together and we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. From our family to the Straschnitzki family, here’s to the next of many chapters!
